x4: Michael (As part of the miniseries "the birthdays" and bridging into the new miniseries "the Mikes"

This is the last person for the birthday miniseries. Next I thought I would write about anyone I know named Michael, as there are a lot of them, and so this post belongs in both.

I met Michael when I was volunteering as a tutor in Redwater. I was fresh out of high school, as was he. He was doing some upgrading, so we met while I was helping him with his calculus. Not only were we birthday buddies, we were born on the exact same day in the exact same hospital. A little crazy, eh?


Michael was the first person to ask me out. I was so flabbergasted that I probably did not handle it as well as I should have. At any rate, we never did go out, though we talked a lot that year, and to his credit, he never stopped persisting.


You know when someone is attracted to you, and you aren't attracted back, but you still develop an interest in them because they are interested in you? Well, it was like that.

I stalked him in the library. Okay, not as bad as that, but I made a point of going to the library when I knew he was there and we would chat for a while.


He was planning on going into the army after that year. I have no idea if he did or not, but he likely did.

I doubt we would even recognize each other if we met again. Even still, it is nice that the first person to ask me out wasn't a creepy old man. The curse didn't strike that early. :)
